On May 9, Professor Hou Xinyi of Shandong University was invited to give a lecture at our college. The theme of the lecture is "Construction and Deconstruction: Reinterpretation of Ma Xiwu's Trial Method". The lecture was presided over by Associate Professor Tang Huapeng of the School of Law of Jiangsu University, and more than 70 teachers and students attended the lecture.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Hou systematically sorted out his life process from a revolutionary worker to a judicial practitioner from the life of Ma Xiwu as the starting point. Secondly, Professor Hou vividly explained the core characteristics of Ma Xiwu's trial method with classic cases such as the marriage case of Feng Bang'er and Zhang Baier and the land dispute case between Mu Rongxiang and Mu Ronghua. Professor Hou pointed out that the implementation of Ma Xiwu's trial method was not all smooth sailing. The border region government and the high court have taken active action to this end, using education and other means to expand its influence and application. Finally, Professor Hou deeply analyzed the reasons for the success of the Ma Xiwu trial method, emphasizing that the Ma Xiwu trial method is the product of the interaction between justice, politics and society in a special historical period, which has important enlightenment for understanding the continuation and transformation of China's judicial tradition.

During the discussion session, the teachers and students present had a heated discussion on the core spirit of Ma Xiwu's trial method, its impact on the judicial system of New China, the relationship with the mass line, and the value of relevant research paradigms. This lecture not only deepened the understanding of teachers and students on the judicial history of the border area, but also provided a historical thinking path for the construction of the contemporary rule of law.

Hou Xinyi is a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor of Shandong University. He has taught at Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Nankai University Law School, and Tianjin University of Finance and Economics Law School. He has been engaged in the teaching and research of Chinese legal history for a long time, and has certain attainments in the fields of the legal history of the Communist Party of China, the history of China's modern judicial system, and the traditional Chinese civil legal system. He was the executive president of the Chinese Legal History Society, the vice president of the Tianjin Law Society, the special supervisor of the Supreme People's Court, the member of the Law Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and a member of the 11th and 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
