Recently, the 64th Lu Tao ▪ Sanjiang Law Forum and the 2nd Legal Talent Training Innovation Forum were successfully held in Classroom 406 of Sanshan Building. The theme of this forum is "Basic Literacy and Professional Skills of Professional Legal Professionals", which was delivered by Kong Xiangen, a lawyer at Jiangsu Lutao Law Firm and a graduate off-campus practice tutor at Jiangsu University Law School, with Associate Professor Wei Xiaoqiang of the School of Law as a panelist. More than 100 teachers, students, and intern lawyers from outside the school participated in the forum. The event was presided over by Professor Li Bingshuo, Dean of the Faculty of Law.
Lawyer Kong Xiangen started from a difficult and complex civil case, pointing out that no matter what legal work is done, it is necessary to gain the trust of the parties, abide by procedural requirements, be familiar with the substantive system, standardize the production of legal documents, and interpret the law afterwards to settle the law. To this end, he believes that professional lawyers should pay attention to the cultivation of their own ideological and moral qualities, resist improper temptations, and maintain professional reputation. At the same time, professional lawyers should have a healthy body and a strong psychology, and only with good physical and mental quality can they undertake high-intensity work, withstand various pressures, and cope with various difficult and complex situations.
Mr. Kong believes that a solid theoretical knowledge foundation, good oral and written expression skills, and various specialized business operation skills constitute the basic aspects of legal professionals' professional ability. The cultivation of professional ability is not achieved overnight, but requires a long process. To this end, he suggested that students must seize the opportunity to study at school, lay a solid foundation in professional knowledge, read more, write more, speak more, practice more skills, and "settle down" at work.
In the discussion session, Mr. Wei Xiaoqiang pointed out that lawyer Kong Xiangen has rich professional experience and outstanding professional ability, and is a well-known business expert, who is a leader in all career stages. In the subsequent interactive session, Lawyer Kong responded to various questions raised by the students on the spot. In Lawyer Kong's view, no matter how small things can reflect a person's quality, no matter how small the matter is, it can also exercise and improve people's quality. He encouraged the students to start from small things, start from the details, and cherish various opportunities for learning and exercise.
Finally, Dean Li Bingshuo made a concluding speech.
