On March 15, 2025, the School of Law held a series of academic lectures of the Hairan Foundation in the Sanjianglou Moot Court. This lecture was specially invited by lawyer Wang Fan, senior consultant of Beijing Guantao Zhongmao Law Firm, with the theme of "AI and the Future of the Legal Profession". Zhu Lingping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Law, presided over the lecture, and Vice Dean Niu Yubing, teacher representatives from various teaching and research departments and more than 100 students participated.
This lecture aims to deepen the understanding of teachers and students on artificial intelligence technology, explore the integration path of legal profession and AI technology, and improve the digital literacy of teachers and students through practical teaching. As an innovative practice of the Hairan Foundation's academic lecture series, the event specially set up a practical session of legal AI tools to promote the combination of theory and practice through immersive experience.
At the beginning of the lecture, Zhu Lingping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Law, issued a letter of appointment to lawyer Wang Fan as an off-campus practice tutor of the School of Law. Subsequently, based on his own practical experience, lawyer Wang Fan systematically analyzed the application logic of AI in scenarios such as contract review, legal document generation, and court trial assistance by demonstrating the operation process of the two legal AI tools. In view of the current situation of AI development in domestic law, she pointed out the three dilemmas currently faced: the conservative attitude of senior practitioners towards technological innovation, the "implicit dependence" of young lawyers on the use of AI, and the adaptation of technology developers to practical scenarios.
In the practical session, the lecture innovatively set up the "Year of the Snake" theme creation challenge, dividing participants into six groups to use Deepseek, Doubao, Kimi and other tools for collaborative creation. Through the display of excellent works and the sharing of instruction optimization skills, Lawyer Wang Fan emphasized that legal professionals should master the ability of "emotional interaction", not only make good use of natural language to guide AI to generate high-quality content, but also be vigilant against the potential risks brought by algorithm black boxes. In particular, she pointed out that the value of AI tools lies not only in improving efficiency, but also in their deep application potential of simulated thinking paths. Teachers and students collaborated around short video account planning to complete the whole process design from content positioning to monetization path. Through real-time comments, Lawyer Wang focused on analyzing the application paradigms of AI in generative narrative, data analysis and other fields, and warned about the privacy protection and ethical boundaries that need to be paid attention to in the use of technology.
Finally, Niu Yubing, vice dean of the School of Law, made a concluding speech. He highly affirmed that the innovative form of this lecture is an effective exploration to cope with the reform of legal education in the AI era. Vice President Niu Yubing emphasized that AI technology is not only an auxiliary tool for legal practice, but also an important force to promote the innovation of legal education and teaching paradigms.
Through the deep integration of theoretical interpretation and scenario-based practice, this lecture presented a multi-dimensional picture of the development of legal careers in the AI era for teachers and students. The School of Law will continue to deepen the construction of the "intelligence + law" characteristic teaching system, promote the deep integration of legal education and digital technology through platforms such as the Lu Tao Sanjiang Legal Forum and the Legal Technology Workshop, and continue to empower the cultivation of compound legal talents with both humanistic care and scientific and technological literacy.
