On the morning of September 25, the School of Law at Jiangsu University held a grand opening ceremony for the 2023 freshmen. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Peng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice dean of the School of Law. Zhu Lingping, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Law, Dean Li Bingshuo, Vice Dean Fang Xiaoxia, Vice Dean Niu Yubing and other leaders attended the opening ceremony. The directors of all departments of the School of Law, academic tutors for 2023 undergraduate students, teacher representatives, all counselors, all postgraduates and undergraduates of 2023 attended the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony kicked off with the school song. Professor Li Bingshuo, Dean of the School of Law, gave a speech. With his warm and humorous speech, he pointed out the future direction for students majoring in law and encouraged students to "grow gently but firmly" and forge ahead on the path of law. Dean Li emphasized that current learning should pay attention to interdisciplinary studies. He suggested that students read extensively and constantly recharge themselves. While learning law well, they should also learn more about related knowledge in other professional fields. At the same time, Dean Li pointed out that whether future students become judges, prosecutors or lawyers in the future, they must strictly abide by professional ethics. He hopes that legal persons from Jiangsu University will always remember that law is the art of fairness and justice.
Teacher representative Tan Jianjun, a model teacher in Zhenjiang City and Jiangsu University, spoke. She hopes that students will maintain enthusiasm and curiosity, patience and persistence, cherish opportunities for learning and growth during their school years, shape correct values and legal awareness, and become legal talents with a global vision and social responsibility.
Liu Junjie, a representative of old students from the 2021 undergraduate class and a member of the Student Union Presidium of the School of Law, Geng Xiaoqiu, a representative of new students from the 2023 graduate class, and Sun Jingyuan, a representative of new students from the 2023 undergraduate class, each made speeches to plan and promise their university life.
In order to give full play to the guiding role of professional teachers in the process of college students' academic development, this year the School of Law has selected four outstanding young backbone teachers to serve as academic tutors for four undergraduate classes in 2023. Teachers Hu Chao and Shuai Honglan participated in the appointment ceremony as representatives of academic tutors. Teacher Shuai Honglan spoke as a representative of academic tutors.
One-tenth of the new law students who account for one-sixtieth of all new students in the school have won the honor of "Excellent Undergraduate New Students"! To commend advanced achievements and set an example, at the opening ceremony, Vice Dean Fang Xiaoxia and Vice Dean Niu Yubing awarded honorary certificates to Yang Kai and other 14 commended students.
Put on school badges and officially become Jiangda people. Secretary Zhu Lingping, Teacher Du Leqi, Tang Huapeng Teacher Zhang Hongyang put on school badges for new student representatives symbolizing inheritance school spirit and responsibility.
The School of Law is a warm family. Dean Li Bingshuo gave a cultural creation water cup as a gift to new students. The water cup is engraved with the emblem and motto "Shang Fa Hou De Du Xue Shou Yi" (Respect for Law and Virtue) of the School of Law.
At the end of the opening ceremony, Secretary Zhu Lingping brought the first lesson to students. In class Secretary Zhu emphasized that we should adhere to socialist core values establish legal ideals inspire students to learn from virtuous people align with advanced people scientifically plan their academic careers.
